Horse cruelty case under investigation

TX:
Sheriff's officials are investigating the discovery of two emaciated horses and a third horse found dead in Radium Springs.
According to investigators, the two emaciated horses were being kept in stables off of Fort Seldon Road.

A dead horse was found nearby in the 800 block of Outpost.

"It has yet to be determined as to why the caretaker, trainer, took the emaciated horses and left them at the stables the night before," a news release from the sheriff's department stated.

The news release said the owner of the horses was en route from Portales.

The two living horses were in the care of a local veterinarian.

Criminal charges are pending a medical examination of the horses.
